Essential Information: How to Fundraise Safely and Legally

To ensure your fundraising is successful and compliant with legal standards, please follow these guidelines:

1. Understand the Purpose
   Clearly define your fundraiser's goal and how it aligns with SAFE’s mission. This helps maintain transparency and ensures your efforts effectively contribute to our cause.
2. Obtain Permission
   Contact SAFE to inform us about your plans. This step is crucial for receiving our official endorsement and guidance, and to ensure your event adheres to our policies.
3. Follow Legal Requirements
   Ensure your fundraiser complies with local laws and regulations. This may include obtaining permits, adhering to health and safety standards, completing DBS checks, and following proper donation collection procedures.
4. Safety is Paramount
   SAFE is not liable for issues arising from third-party fundraising events. Ensure your venue meets health and safety regulations. Plan activities carefully to protect children and vulnerable adults. Fundraisers under 18 need parental consent, and proper supervision is essential. Have a plan for lost children and check if DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks are required for those supervising minors.
5. Manage Donations Properly
   Use secure methods for handling and processing donations. Opt for reliable platforms or bank accounts to manage funds and ensure all transactions are transparent and well-documented.
6. Promote Responsibly
   Advertise your fundraiser with accurate information. Avoid misleading claims and clearly state that proceeds will benefit SAFE INTERNATIONAL. Use our official logo and branding only with permission.
