At just two years old, *Eva's life took a devastating turn when she was found abandoned at a petrol station. A passer-by discovered her alone in the dust, appearing lost and expressionless. Despite efforts to locate her mother or any relatives, no one in the area had any information about her. Eva, barely able to speak, could not even recall her own name. After 18 long hours of waiting, with no one coming forward, the passer-by made the crucial decision to bring Eva to the centre, recognising the imminent danger she was in.
Once Eva arrived at our urgent rescue centre, the immediate threat to her safety was alleviated. Our dedicated team sprang into action, offering Eva the care and attention she desperately needed. Through play therapy and nurturing, Eva began to heal emotionally. She was provided with three nutritious meals each day and given a warm, secure bed of her own. The transformation was profound; the once withdrawn and emotionless child began to smile, play, and forge friendships. She became particularly attached to our senior social worker and even took on the social worker’s name, Eva—a name that she embraced wholeheartedly.
While Eva’s immediate safety was ensured, we knew that for her to truly flourish, she needed the love and stability of a family. Our team launched an extensive search to locate her biological family. We followed every lead and held numerous community meetings in an effort to find anyone who might know Eva or her family. Despite our relentless efforts, months turned into years, and the search ultimately reached a dead end.
Faced with the reality that an institutional setting could not provide the long-term stability Eva needed, we decided to pursue adoption. The challenge was significant—only a few percent of children over six months old are successfully adopted. But hope remained, fueled by our commitment to finding a permanent, loving home for Eva.
At the age of four, Eva’s perseverance and the unwavering dedication of our team bore fruit. She was adopted into a loving family, marking the first-ever adoption from our children’s rescue centre in the region.
Today, thanks to our incredible team and supporters like you, Eva is thriving in her new home. Her adoptive parents provide her with the love, stability, and support she needs to grow and flourish. She is excelling in school, developing new interests, and enjoying a happy, fulfilling childhood surrounded by a family that cherishes her. We could not have asked for a better family for her and we are so proud of all that she has achieved.
Eva’s story is a powerful testament to the impact of compassion, perseverance, and community support. Her journey from abandonment to finding a loving home exemplifies the profound difference a dedicated team and a caring community can make in a child's life.
